Franck Joly, L.Ac. MTOM Dipl.OM
Franck Joly, L.Ac. MTOM Dipl.OM, is Environ’s West Coast Director of Training. Franck is a top educator and is a physician of Oriental Medicine specializing in cosmetic acupuncture. Franck spent multiple years alongside Dr. Fernandes, founder of Environ Skincare, and even performed all his clinical trials.
Candace Noonan is a Licensed Esthetician and Master Trainer for DermaConcepts, exclusive distributor of Environ Skin Care in the USA, and hosts advanced trainings on this pharmaceutical grade line. She holds certificates for internationally recognized programs including Advanced Skin Analysis, Dermal Needling and Oncology Esthetics, and is a proficient public speaker at medical and skin care conferences throughout the USA. Her belief is to never stop learning, in hopes of sharing the knowledge gained by her continued studies. Born in South Africa, and having personal experience battling Melasma, she feels her passion for skin care is her biggest asset.
Dr. Louis Malcmacher, President, MAGD
Dr. Louis Malcmacher maintains a cosmetic and general practice in Bay Village, Ohio. He is an internationally recognized lecturer and author, known for his entertaining and comprehensive teaching style. He has vast experience in total facial esthetics and has taught tens of thousands of healthcare professionals in the areas of smile design esthetics and facial injectable therapy. He has also lectured at many major medical and dental meetings throughout the US, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East. Dr. Malcmacher has also been extensively featured in the general media. His interviews have been seen on CNN, Fox, ABC, CBS, NBC, 20/20, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Jane, Shape, Washington Post, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Detroit Free Press, GQ, Edge, Newsweek, Reader’s Digest, and Men’s Health. Dr. Malcmacher is a master of the Academy of General Dentistry, a fellow of the International Association of Dental Facial Esthetics, a fellow of the World Clinical Laser Institute, and a visiting lecturer at a number of universities.

Cristin Mercer brings over 30 years of experience in the beauty & wellness industry as a licensed instructor of cosmetology and esthetics, spa director, spa & salon proprietor and as a business development consultant to international skin care brands and device manufacturers. Cristin excelled as the Program Director for the Catherine Hinds Institute of Esthetics, soon after which she founded Mercer Aesthetics & Spa Consulting (MASC). Through over 16 years with MASC she provided direct educational and business consulting to market-leading skin care organizations, state-of-the-art medical device manufacturers, individual salons/spas and dermatological/cosmetic medical practices. In this role Cristin has also written extensive medical esthetic curricula for schools of esthetics, continuing education programs as well as advanced protocols for patient-centered medical practices. Currently as Senior Business Development Manager, Cristin has partnered with Environ and DermaConcepts for 15 years to provide educational and business support to the national growth of the Environ® brand as well as to provide sales and education directly to the New England medical esthetic community.
Francis X. Acunzo
Francis X. Acunzo, Founder, Acara Partners is a 25-year veteran of the spa, retail, corporate healthcare, hospitality, beauty, wellness and fitness industries. With his wife and business partner, Colleen, the couple is recognized as the founders of the medical spa movement in the United States. Francis’ expertise in guiding clients’ growth is anchored in his entrepreneurial background. As a business owner, board member and investor, Fran has displayed a critical business perspective and an ability to provide visionary leadership. He has extensive experience with start-up and turnaround businesses, both of which require thorough guidance and personalized attention. He is known for his firsts in many industries: in 2010 he launched the digital division of Acara Partners to become the first full-service business consulting, marketing and digital agency focused on the cosmetic medical world; in 2005, he took the first corporate owned chain of medical spas out of bankruptcy and sold it within 18 months; in 1999, Francis had the vision to create the industry’s first consolidation of day spas, aggregating almost $50M in annual revenue through the acquisition of 24 of the best spas in top U.S. markets; in 1996, he launched the country’s first medical spa through a merger between his Boston spa company and Candela Laser, one of the leading Cosmetic Laser manufacturers in the U.S.; in 1991, he was the first day spa operator to put cosmetic lasers into spas; in 1985, he led the development of the first resort spa in the northeast at the Norwich Inn in Norwich, CT. Shawna Wiesner, MLE, BFA,
Shawna Wiesner, MLE, BFA, is a master licensed aesthetician & owner of Medical Skin Care Consulting, Inc., specializing in advanced aesthetic education, training, and aesthetic practice business development. She has an extensive background as a medical aesthetician in the PNW and as an educator for international cosmeceutical companies, as well as, national aesthetic device manufacturers. A passionate and committed life-long student of aesthetics, Shawna has traveled the globe for her studies. In 2014, she had the privilege of meeting Dr. Des Fernandes in Cape Town SA. In October of 2016, she received private medical needling instruction, training, and certification from Dr. Matthias Aust in Bonn and Munich Germany. Shawna holds advanced aesthetics certifications from Pastiche, UCLA Cosmetic Chemistry Extension Programs, and is NCEA Certified. She has been a Sales Consultant and Educator for DermaConcepts since 2015.
Mike Buckner has spent the majority of his career in the Dental technology field, specializing in maximizing technology to stay current with today’s communication trends. He was a Business Development Executive for a patient communication technology company for several years where he oversaw the strategic relationships and partnerships for the dental industry. He also spent some time as a Director of Business Development for a business analytics company, and is currently the Director of Business Development for Weave. Over the past several years, he has spoken across the country, helping offices and teams adapt to the generational shifts with communication habits to increase patient loyalty and overall efficiencies within practices. He is married to a Dental Assistant, and has 20 month old identical twin boys.
Jay A. Shorr, BA, MBM-C, CAC I-XIV
Jay A. Shorr, BA, MBM-C, CAC I-XIV is the founder and managing partner of Shorr Solutions, formerly known as The Best Medical Business Solutions, a Florida-based medical practice consulting firm assisting practices with their operational, administrative and financial health. Jay served as the Vice President of Operations and Practice Administrator for a leading Board-Certified Dermatologist and Cosmetic Surgeon in South Florida until her passing in June 2012, and held partnerships in two leading South Florida plastic surgery centers in the past. Allyson A. Avila, Esq. is a Partner at Gordon & Rees. Ms. Avila is one of only a few attorneys in the nation that has intimate knowledge of the aesthetic industry and the nuances of medical spa formation, licensing, and compliance with state and federal laws. Ms. Avila envisions, constructs and executes legal and regulatory strategies that drive business results. Mara Shorr, BS, CAC II-XIV,
Mara Shorr, BS, CAC II-XIV, is a partner and vice president of marketing and business development for Shorr Solutions, bringing more than a decade of marketing and communications experience to Shorr Solutions’ clients. She is a Level II through XIV Certified Aesthetic Consultant utilizing knowledge and skills from her previous positions in marketing for two separate leading dermatology, cosmetic and plastic surgery practices located in South Florida. No stranger to the startup world, Mara founded and ran The Leone Company, a marketing and communication relations firms based in Orlando, until she joined Shorr Solutions in 2012. Lara Compton, Esq.
Lara Compton, Esq. is Of Counsel with the Nelson Hardiman Healthcare Law Firm in Los Angeles, California. Her experiences working on a wide variety of matters instilled such deep versatility that colleagues describe Lara as the “Swiss Army Knife” when it comes to solving healthcare problems. John Gwin is the founder of The Auctus Group – a financial and operations consulting firm for plastic surgeons, dermatologists, medical spa owners and operators as well as those working within the cosmetic and esthetic industry. Hailing from a background in management at both an outsourced medical billing company as well as a busy plastic surgery practice, John has had the privilege of working with countless of physicians for over a decade now, aiding and assisting them in process, workflow and growth. From finances, to workflow, to staffing and beyond, John and his team look to continuing aligning themselves with practices seeking growth and efficiency nationwide. Mark Hardiman, Esq.
Mark Hardiman, Esq. is the founder and Partner of Nelson Hardiman Healthcare Law Firm in Los Angeles, California.
