We need some important information before you attend the course.

Below is the agenda for the course which will cover Botulinum Toxin training:

  • Registration – 7:30 AM – Please be prompt
  • Botulinum Toxin Intro – 8:00 AM
  • Live Patient Botulinum Toxin – 8:30 AM-12:00 PM

**Patients will not be allowed to enter the course until 9AM.

Team Members
We have availability for you to bring additional staff members with you to the course. In order to attend as a team member, your team members must not be a nurse, a doctor of any profession, or a possible injector. All names will be verified through the state boards and full tuition will be charged if this policy is not carried out.

AAFE Members – your first team member is FREE. All other team members’ admission cost is $395/person. Payment is required even if the team member sitting in on the course is your model patient. Please let us know as soon as possible if you plan to bring any additional team members.

Model Patients

For the best learning experience, please bring your own model patient. Occasionally, there may be an opportunity to find a model at the course, however this is no guarantee. You can bring up to 2 patients per course. Each attendee will be guaranteed the time to treat their first patients, however second patients are time-dependent and therefore they are not guaranteed treatment. We will do our absolute best to make it to everyones’ second patient, if time allows. Your models must be available for 3-4 hours, as this is a teaching course.

Attendees are solely responsible for treatment of their patients at this course. You will treat your patient as you would in your office.

No pets and no children in the classroom!

Checklists for Botulinum Toxin® Training Course Please bring the following:

**Level 1 Botox Live Patient Training Includes 1 Complimentary 50 unit vial of Neurotoxin (Xeomin/Botox).

Additional botulinum toxin is available for purchase at the course. Each vial can be used for approximately 1-2 patients depending on the treatment needs of the patients.

Choosing an Ideal Candidate for the Botulinum Toxin course:
The treatment areas covered in Level I are horizontal forehead lines, the frown lines between the eyes when the patient makes a “mad” facial expression (the 11’s) and the “crow’s feet” lines at the corner of the eyes. In addition, treatment of the temporalis and masseter muscles help to relieve pain from Bruxism/TMJ.

Additional considerations are as followed:

● The model patient should have mild to moderate static lines- these are the best patients to train on.
● The patient should be healthy, with no history of infections/vaccinations within the last 2 weeks. Their health history should be reviewed to determine if they are in an overall good state of health
● Patients with neurological, autoimmune, and immunological diseases are not ideal candidates, as well as people with long term systemic diseases.
● The patient should not be needle phobic.
● The patient should not have any special events coming up within 2 weeks of treatment due to risk for bruising/swelling. Consider avoiding patients who bruise easily.

We have the right to refuse treatment to any patient.

  • Dermal Intro –  1:00 PM
  • Live Patient Dermal –  1:30 PM – 5:00 PM

** Level 1 Filler Live Patient Training will include 1ml complimentary syringe of filler (Revanessse Versa, Juvederm Ultra or similar).

Additional dermal filler is available for purchase at the course. Each pre-filled syringe can only be used on one patient. We will be using hyaluronic acid products in this course. Costs vary.

Choosing an Ideal Candidate for the Dermal Filler course:

The treatment areas that are covered in Level I Dermal Filler are nasolabial folds (lines from the corner of the mouth to the corner of the nose), marionette lines (lines from the corner of the lips that go down the face toward the jawline), the oral commissures (the corners of the lips) and a lip enhancement for lip fullness and hydration.

  • The model patient should have mild to moderate folds – these are the best patients to train
  • The model patient should not have an allergy to lidocaine
  • The patient should be healthy, with no active infections/vaccinations within the last 2 weeks. Health history should be reviewed to confirm that the patient is in overall good health
  • Patients with neurological, autoimmune and immunological diseases are not ideal candidates, as well as people with long term systemic
  • Patients, who bruise easily, because of medications or other disease processes, may not be good
  • The model should not be needle
  • The model patient may have some swelling and/or bruising after We recommend that the model patient not have any important life events occurring within two weeks of treatment.

Please review and share the following list of pre-operative instructions with each of your model patients.

 

Dermal Filler Pre-Treatment Instructions:

Please have your patients follow the instructions below to minimize the risk for side effects associated with injectables.

  • Let us know if you are prone to cold sores- a pre-operative medication may help prevent cold sores after
  • If you develop a cold sore, blemish, rash or infection, prior to your appointment, you must reschedule.
  • Discontinue Retin-A (2) two days before and (2) two days after
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory or blood thinning medications ideally, for a period of two weeks before Medications and supplements such as Aspirin, Vitamin E, Gingko Biloba, St. John’s Wart, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, Vioxx, and other NSAIDS are all blood thinning and can increase the risk of bruising/swelling after injections.
  • Schedule botulinum Toxin appointment at least 2 weeks before a special event e., wedding, vacation, etc. The chances for bruising are high with injectables and therefore we would want to ensure that all bruising has healed before their event.

Every model patient must sign an informed consent prior to treatment. Consents will be provided at each course and there will be no exceptions.

We have the right to refuse treatment to any patient.

All course completion certificates and continuing education credits will be awarded to attendees when all course tuition, team member verification, and course/product fees have been reconciled.
