Team Members

We still have availability for you to bring additional staff members with you to the course.  In order to attend as a team member, your guests must not be a nurse, a doctor of any profession, or a possible injector. All names will be verified through the state boards and full tuition will be charged if this policy is not carried out. AAFE Members - your first team member is FREE.  All other team members admission cost is $295 per day, per person.  Payment is required even if the team member sitting in on the course is your model patient.  Please let us know as soon as possible if you plan to bring any additional team members.  We do not have limitations on those attending the full course.

Model patients will not be provided at the course.  You are allowed to bring no more than 3 patients, per day. Please allow 2-3 hours for availability.  You may reserve one injection time for one patient; if you have second and third patients will be taken in rotation with the course.  If you choose not to bring a model patient, you may observe the hands-on portion of the course.

Checklist for Level III Training

Please bring the following:
  • Gloves
  • 2x2 or 4x4 gauze
  • Eyebrow pencil of any color
  • A digital camera for you to take pictures of your patient, if you would like to.
  • Bring at least two sterilized dental anesthetic syringes, your choice of local anesthetic, topical anesthetic, cotton applicators, and needles to deliver dental anesthetic to your model patient.
  • Your personal loupes and headlights.

***PLEASE BRING ANY PRODUCTS YOU WILL NEED TO THE COURSE WITH YOU***

BOTOX                    RESTYLANE                   RADIESSE
DYSPORT               JUVERDERM ULTRA XC
JUVEDERM ULTRA   JUVEDERM ULTRA PLUS XC
JUVEDERM ULTRA PLUS   PERLANE

We strongly recommend you learn the use of Dysport at the Level III course if you have never used because its use is rapidly growing.  The same is true of the dermal filler Radiesse which is very popular for cheek enhancements and deeper folds.  These products will be available for purchase at the course.  The cost of Dysport is $490 for a 300 unit vial (equivalent to 100 units of Botox) and $295 for a 1.5 ml syringe of Radiesse.

If you have any questions about the course, please contact Shannon Matos by calling 800-952-0521 Ext 4 or via email at: Shannon@FacialEsthetics.org.

Here are some tips for choosing a model patient for the Level III Course:

Feel free to bring model patients that can use comprehensive treatment of botulinum toxin (Botox and Dysport) and dermal fillers including Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Restylane, Perlane, and Radiesse.

  • The model patient should have moderate lines-these are the best patients to train on.
  • The model patient should not be needle phobic
  • The model patient should be easy to anesthetize and be able to tolerate local dental anesthesia.
  • If your patient has TMJ and/or bruxism, these areas will be addressed as well.
  • The patient should be healthy, with no active skin infections, and have a clean medical history.
  • Patients with neurological, autoimmune and immunological diseases are not the best candidates, as well as people with long term systematic diseases.
  • Patients, who bruise easily, because of medications or other disease processes, may not be good candidates. The model patient may have some swelling and/or bruising after treatment.

Please review and share the following list of pre-operative instructions with each of your model patients.

Botox® for Cosmetic Pre-Treatment Instructions

In an ideal situation, it is prudent to follow some simple guidelines before treatment that can make all the difference between a fair result and/or great result, by reducing some possible side effects associated with the injections.  We realize this is not always possible; however, minimizing these risks is always desirable.

  • Avoid alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment.  Alcohol may thin the blood which will increase the risk of bruising.
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory or blood thinning medications ideally, for a period of two weeks before treatment.  Medications and supplements such as Aspirin, Vitamin E, Gingko Biloba, St. John’s Wart, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, Vioxx, and other NSAIDS are all blood thinning and can increase the risk of bruising/swelling after injections.
  • Schedule appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event which may be occurring, i.e., wedding, vacation, etc.  It is not desirable to have a very special event occurring and be bruised from an injection which could have been avoided.

Dermal Filler Pre-Treatment Instructions

In an ideal situation, it is prudent to follow some simple guidelines before treatment that can make all the difference between a fair result and/or great result, by reducing some possible side effects associated with the injections.  We realize this is not always possible; however, minimizing these risks is always desirable.

  • Let us know if you are prone to cold sores- a pre-operative medication may help prevent cold sores after treatment.
  • If you develop a cold sore, blemish, or rash, etc. prior to your appointment, you must reschedule.
  • Discontinue Retin-A (2) two days before and (2) two days after treatment.
  • Schedule appointments at least 2 weeks prior to a special event which may be occurring, i.e., wedding, vacation, etc.  It is not desirable to have a very special event occurring and be bruised from an injection which could have been avoided.

Every model patient must sign an informed consent prior to treatment.

Consents will be provided at each course and there will be no exceptions.

We have the right to refuse treatment to any patient.

If you have any questions about your patient, please email Dr. Malcmacher at: DrLouis@FacialEsthetics.org.
