Lip Enhancement Overview

Lip enhancements falls into two categories: surgical implants and non-surgical lip injections. The benefit of a lip injection is the volume it can give the lips. The ‘poutiness’ it imparts is significant compared to the implants, which give a more subtly defined lip. The downfall is you really need an experienced injector. This is very important, and even more so with the permanent products. Lip augmentation and lip enhancement is commonly achieved by Restylane lip fillers or Juvederm®, or lip collagen which offer lip plumping through lip injections. These injections normally last from between 4 months and a year. The cost of lip enhancements vary greatly. Lip fillers may be under $400, while other procedures like fat grafts can range up to $5,000! Also one has to make sure to use a costly expertly trained plastic surgeon for the more invasive procedures.

Permanent lip augmentation can typically be achieved using a lip implant. Some have tried permanent lip fillers and silicone. Healthcare professionals caution against augmenting lips with permanent fillers since they are almost impossible to remove.

Lip Injections

There are many different types of lip fillers that can be used for lip enhancement. Namely Perlane/Restylane, Juvederm®, Radiesse®, Artecoll, Aquamid, Bio-Alcamid, Bovine Collagen, Human Collagen, Particulated Dermis, Porcine Collagen etc..
